Does God find you as one bringing Him pleasure and glory? God has a work that He loves to do, a work that He’s doing, a work that brings Him great joy – it’s the work of pulling your life and my life out of the pits of sin purifying and shaping us into the image of Jesus Christ for His glory and His kingdom. It’s a work that He wills and wants to do. It’s a work that brings Him pleasure.
Perhaps you feel like a hopeless case. We live in a fallen world with may struggles and much pain. You may feel like a hopeless case in all your brokenness. What can God possibly do with you? But if you yield to God and let Him have his way in all your hopelessness confusion, and brokenness, God will mold you into the image of Jesus Christ.
God is working and we can have confidence that He which hath begun a god work in us will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ. When God starts a work in our life He doesn’t quit. He keeps doing it, and so you’re not a hopeless case.
“Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will, to the praise of the glory of his grace, wherein he hath made us accepted in the beloved.”
You may not feel like much but God has adopted you according the good pleasure of His will. He wants you, desires you, and loves you.
It is true we do need to work out our salvation. We need to choose to reject evil and in every moment and every thought crown Hi as King of Kings and Lord of Lords. We do need to reject the flesh and die to self, and live for God through prayer and Bible study. Through right choices we walk in self-discipline, fear, and trembling. But the ultimate work of sanctification is in God’s hands and He’s working in our lives both willing us to d His good pleasure but also giving us the energy to do it.
“But now, O LORD, thou art our father; we are the clay, and thou our potter; and we all are the work of thy hand.”
We who have chosen to follow Jesus as believes are the works of the hands of God. God is the Master Potter and we are the clay in His hands. Do you think God ever looks at you, the lump in His hands, and smiles? Do you think God does that to you?
Woe unto us if we say we’re a hopeless case. God is willing that we change.
There’s no room for pride when we are the clay. And we may say, “Lord, it sure does hurt sometimes, but thanks for choosing me. Thanks for making my life beautiful.” This can be our prayer in giving glory to God.
Any good thing that we see in each other is because of Jesus Christ and God working in our lives. The good things we do are powered by Jesus Christ. If we don’t yield to the hands of God as He is molding us those pressures get tighter. And some day if we don’t yield to the hand of god we are just thrown out. The clay cannot be shaped and we are of no glory to Potter anymore.
We are not saved by our goods works. We are saved by faith. But that saving faith brings us to repentance. And in repentance we crown Jesus Christ as Lord of our lives. If I don’t have good works in my life it shows to you that I have not chosen a new King, a new standard of living, or a new path in my life. If I have not repented I am not saved.
Too often we view salvation as the most important thing as if salvation is the goal. In God’s eyes salvation is just the beginning of the work that He wants to do in our lives. God saved us to be a holy nation, a peculiar people, a royal priesthood, and the light of the world.
Are we seeking to Give God the glory through our lives every day through the power He gives us? God desires to show himself to the world through you. If we yield to Him he will do it.
